Deck the Halls
We started putting up our Christmas tree yesterday. Lara did most of the work, but Maggie and Blue helped too.

TiVo offers solution for switched digital cable
If you don't know what they're talking about, don't worry. Basically it just keeps your very expensive TiVo Series 3 from becoming obsolete. It doesn't affect me at the moment, but it does leave the door open to me switching to cable if they don't make a TiVo that works with the new MPEG4 satellites.

Due to the Eastern Washington upset over McNeese State, Appalachian will host next week’s second-round matchup at The Rock.

I need a vacation from my vacation
So after getting back from Miami on Thursday, we turned around and drove to Boone on Saturday to see the final regular season football game of the year. Appalachian clinched a share of their 3rd straight SoCon championship.
As for Miami, I just finished posting all of our pictures here.

A1A Beachfront Avenue!
We're here and the hotel is very nice. We just got back from the depressing 13-10 loss by the Dolphins. Here's the pictures I've taken so far.... more updates later.
Oh yeah, and this is our ride around town.

Fun times
For the rest of the week, I'm sitting in a class for the ACE Application Control Engine Module. So far, it's pretty painful....hopefully it will get better once we hit the labs.

Personalize your Xbox Live GamerTag
Here's a cool little utility if you're having trouble finding a good icon for your GamerTag. The GamerPic Scout lets you search through all the current GamerPics available on Xbox Live. You can even sort them based on most used or least used. There are a couple dozen that nobody in the world uses. If you want to be unique, or to figure out where a particular GamerPic came from, check it out. I even found an Appalachian one that I didn't know existed here.

Kidd Brewer stadium updates
Here's a cool video of all the work they're doing to enhance Appalachian State's football stadium. The suites look really cool, although I'll probably never sit in one.

HD-DVD player for $99
Tomorrow Walmart is offering the Toshiba HD-A2 HD-DVD player for a measly $99. Best Buy has listed the same player for the same price also. This could make the format debate a little interesting. Details here. Overall I'm happy with my HD-DVD 360 add-on, so I have no need for this, but if a Blu-Ray player hits a similar pricepoint I may have to pick it up too. Sadly, the cheapest Blu-Ray player at the moment is still the $399 PS3 (although you can get $100 off if you sign up for a Sony card.)
UPDATE: According to Slickdeals BestBuy for Business has it in stock online.
