Candy Corn tastes like sh*t
Last night, we saw Lewis Black and his "Red, White, and Screwed" tour at Meymandi Hall in Raleigh. It was a great show, and his opening act was just as entertaining. I'd recommend checking it out if he comes by your town, as long as you're not a big fan of Dubya.....

Another one down
After a slow start, App pulled out a 40-7 thrashing against the Furman Paladins. Full story. ASU can clinch a playoff spot by beating The Citadel next weekend. Unfortunately it's not on TV, but the Nov 11th game is on WMYA - Ch. 40 Asheville.

FireFox 2.0 released
Yesterday, Firefox 2.0 was posted on Mozilla's website here. Also, the final version of IE7 is available here.
I'll try them both out and give a review soon.
PS, I had a couple extensions that were disabled during the upgrade, but check here for info on how to turn them back on. The extension might not work properly in the new version, but it's worth a shot. I used option #3 in the article.

Robot Chair
OK this is pretty cool. I don't know what functional purpose a self-assembling chair would have, but it's impressive nonetheless.

BC delayed until January
Blizzard issued a press release last night stating that the Burning Crusade expansion will be released in January. I'm not terribly dissapointed, but it would have been nice to get some playtime over the holidays. Check out the statement here.

GNR tour starts tomorrow
Guns N' Roses is touring again after a decade of silence. I know, it's not really GNR, as the only guys from the original band are Axl and Dizzy. The rest of the band (Slash, Duff, and Matt) are part of Velvet Revolver, but I don't care. Unfortunately, I'll be out of town for the only stop in NC. I'm hoping the first leg of the tour is successful enough to get a second leg. The first part of the tour includes both Sebastian Bach and Papa Roach as openers. I have to admit it, GNR is in my top 3 favorite bands, and I still have some old cassettes laying around somewhere. Click here for the full tour schedule.

Motorola KRZR K1 (GSM) and iSync
Last week, I mentioned that I bought a new KRZR K1. Unfortunately, as with all bleeding edge phones, it's not supported in iSync. Well, that was easy enough to fix, you simply have to edit the following file:
In the Finder, right-click on the iSync application and choose Show Package Contents.
Drill down to the following:
Contents -> Plugins -> ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice -> Contents -> Plugins -> PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin -> Contents -> Resources. The file you need to edit is "MetaClasses.plist". Make a backup copy of your original, and replace it with my edited version here, along with the .tiff file. Restart iSync and you should be ready to go.
A big thanks to Elbert Cuenca, for providing the icon, it looks great!
**Note this only works on the GSM version of the KRZR K1, not the Verizon or Alltel CDMA versions.**
NOTE: Apple has included support for the K1 and K1m in 10.4.9. Check out the list here. Word of warning, I have not been able to get my K1 working, along with quite a few others in the comments below.

Buh bye
So UNC decided to fire Bunting, after starting the season 1-6. Not a huge shocker, but a certain other ACC coach should also be a little worried. (I'll give you a hint, his name rhymes with tomato)

Heart stopper
App pulled out all the stops to win in double OT 27-20. ESPN has the box score here. App was lucky to survive this game with their 4-0 turnover ratio, but we'll take it. Next week's game is at home vs. Furman. It's also scheduled to be broadcast on SportSouth (formerly Turner South). The winner of this game could likely go on to take the Southern Conference championship.
Go Mountaineers!

Ebert recovering
Cinematical has a post on their site regarding Roger Ebert's recovery. It sounds like his condition is improving, and hopefully he'll return to television next year.

Halloween in Azeroth
For the most part, I really enjoy the holidays in WoW. I think Halloween is my favorite so far. Every hour, you can talk to one of the innkeepers and 'Trick or Treat'. And that's exactly what you get, either a bag of random treats, or you get tricked. Usually when that happens, you get turned into something not usually found in the game. So far, I've been turned into a Ninja and a mini-Diablo seen in this screenshot. Of course, this is an homage to my other favorite Blizzard game, Diablo.

ASU ranked #1 once again
Appalachian has moved back to it's #1 ranking in I-AA football after this weekend's win over Wofford, and New Hampshire’s 42-23 loss to James Madison (who tumbled to 7th). Full ranking here. I'll post our pictures from the trip asap. Their next two games are very important, Georgia Southern and Furman. Both of which will be televised on Turner South.

Sexy new phone
Last week, I picked up a new Motorola KRZR K1. After a week of use, I can say it's easily the coolest phone I've ever used. Check Gizmodo for some pretty pictures. I'm sure in 6-12 months, everybody else will have one, but I don't really care. :)

Nintendo circa 1988
The following video of "Inside Edition" from 1988 is pretty amusing. It's hard to remember a time when Nintendo wasn't a household name.

ClearChannel sucks
So I woke up to an unpleasant surprise this morning. After 22 years on the air, 106.1RDU has changed formats to a country station. I mainly blame ClearChannel for running the station into the ground. But more importantly, there is no local affiliate for Bob & Tom. I can barely pick up the show out of Charlotte, but it's very spotty. I've already sent correspondence to both Bob & Tom and 96Rock, with hopes of bringing them back. Ironically, the "Friends of the Bob & Tom Comedy Tour" makes a stop in Raleigh on October 21st......

Boone Dining
On our trip to Boone, for the most part we stuck to our regular restaurants. But one exception this time was The Library. As you can see, the waitstaff is easy on the eyes and the giant beer 'L-necks' are impressive as well. The food was actually very good, and even the ladies agreed. The Library may likely become one of our new 'regulars'. Two thumbs up.

DirecTV HD DVR getting OS upgrade
So, I haven't really been following the TiVo forums lately, but I got a pleasant suprise on Friday. My HR10-250 got a spiffy new upgrade to 6.3a TiVo OS. The main features are folders, and a speedy new guide. So if this sounds good to you, be sure to plug your box up to a phone line and let it complete the daily call. The update also works over Serial-PPP (which is how I did mine). I think that all S2 boxes should have the upgrade, except the R10 since it's already running 6.1.
