Geeked out

Yesterday, I stopped by Andy's place to play my first (and probably last) pen & paper Role Playing Game. It was a game about zombies that basically incorporated every good and bad zombie movie I've ever seen. It wasn't a horrible experience, but I didn't find it to be the most entertaining night either. The session lasted 3 or so hours, which is apparently longer than my attention span. By the end, I was playing The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap on Scott's GameBoy DS. I guess maybe video games and TiVo have rotted my brain so much that I don't have enough imagination to enjoy these types of things.

It certainly has it's moments. I never played D&D or any tabletop game in my formidable years, so I don't have the same nostaligic love for it that some do. I do find it interesting to a point, but as a very casual player it's hard to get that much out of it.

Now when it comes to Zelda and Mario nostalgia, Nintendo pretty much has an open reign on my wallet.

Heh, just caught this. :-)

Yeah, I admit, sometimes it gets a little dry when Rick runs the games.

I'm hoping to run a game of Dogs in the Vineyard

or Prime Time Adventures

or The Shadow of Yesterday

If I were introduced to Dungeons and Dragons in this day and age, my attention span would last, seriously, like 12 friggin seconds.

The above games are fun, ruthless, lots to do... They're like the Ultimate Litmus Test for whether gaming is fun for you or not (and it's not fun for some, which is totally cool).

But yeah, probably the game we played was kinda old-school and not really a good limus test for fun-ness. :-)
